CHH among the top hospitals nationally for orthopedics; SMMC recognized in vascular and orthopedic surgery excellence

Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) and St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC), members of Marshall Health Network, have once again been recognized by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.

The achievements below place both CHH and SMMC in the upper echelon of hospitals nationally for specialty care and reflect the organization’s commitment to consistently delivering the best care possible.

America’s 100 Best Hospitals

There are thousands of hospitals in the U.S., however, only 2% are recognized as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals. CHH is honored to be the only hospital in West Virginia to be once again named to that list.

Orthopedics

CHH was recognized among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery (sixth year in a row) and America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement (13th year in a row). CHH and SMMC also again received the Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award.

New outpatient awards were added this year and CHH is the only hospital in West Virginia to receive both Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award and Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award for 2024.

Our hospitals are committed to providing high quality care and exceptional outcomes to all we serve,” said Hoyt Burdick, M.D., chief medical officer, MHN. “These recognitions confirm that commitment, and I congratulate all of the physicians and staff in these areas for their hard work.

These achievements are part of findings releases in the Healthgrades 2024 Report to the Nation. The new report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically among hospitals and the impact it may have on health outcomes.

Consumers can feel confident that hospitals receiving these recognitions have demonstrated their commitment to quality care and exceptional outcomes,” said Brad Bowman, M.D., chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “The recognition helps provide peace of mind when selecting a place for care.”
